Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Telecommunication Engineering (4 years)

B.Tech Telecommunication Engineering is a four (4) year programme designed to equip students with the requisite knowledge and skills in Telecommunication and expose them to industry based training so as to use their managerial and Technical Skills to fill the middle level manpower requirement in the telecommunication industries. Students participate in a balanced programme of instruction covering the basic principles of the design and application of Telecommunication systems. The programme includes coverage in breadth and depth of basic science, engineering, and abstract concepts of information handling. Students specialize in and are prepared for careers in the design, analysis and use of fault diagnosis, maintenance and systems. The programme is structured to ensure that graduates have a clear understanding of the design and the applications of telecommunication systems, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge throughout their professional careers. In particular, within a few years after graduation, graduates in B. Tech in Telecommunication Engineering should be able to:

  1. Work in industry or government producing or evaluating components of Telecommunication systems.
  2. Work in teams to design, implement, and/or maintain components of Telecommunication systems.
  3. Stay current through professional conferences, certificate programmes, post-baccalaureate degree programmes, or other professional educational activities. Employers of the graduates of this programme include; MTN, Vodafone, Tigo, Glo, Banks, Academic Institutions, Huawei, Ericson, Government communication agencies.

B.Tech Telecommunication Engineering (Top –up (2 years))

B.Tech in Telecommunication Engineering is a two-year part-time weekend programme. It is designed to train practically-oriented telecommunication engineers required to drive the nation’s industrialization agenda. The programme is structured for HND/diploma graduates in the field of electrical/electronic, telecommunication sectors, computer engineering design and computer sciences. The programme consists of one-semester industrial training in a telecommunication engineering firm or in a company that specializes in any of the telecommunication engineering fields. The uniqueness of this programme is that graduates is equipped with the requisite hands-on knowledge and skills required to design, install, operate, maintain and troubleshoot telecommunication machinery/systems in the country.

B.Tech Mechatronics (4 years)

B.Tech Mechatronics programme is a niche area for Koforidua Technical University. Mechatronic is a multidisciplinary field of science that includes a combination of mechanical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, telecommunication engineering, systems engineering and control engineering. Mechatronics Engineering in Ghana can create a myriad of new industrial and academic opportunities. Mechatronics will provide the necessary knowledge for creative individuals to invent innovative and efficient products to problems of both industry and national interests. Mechatronics in Ghana can also help increase productivity, maintain consistency in the production process and produce products of higher quality with lower operating cost to enable the products to compete successfully in the international market. This programme seeks to equip students with a strong understanding of the fundamentals of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering and control systems in a synergistic framework. In addition, students can design, develop and implement intelligent engineered products and processes to solve challenging technological problems or meet specific human needs effectively using a variety of innovative methods.
